Design Guidelines* Preservation Ordinance Preservation Element of Alachua County's Comprehensive Plan The study found that only five properties in the unincorporated areas of Alachua County have been listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Of the 967 resources surveyed, 39 are considered potentially eligible for listing on the National Register. In addition, several historic districts were also identified as being potentially eligible for listing. The short-term recommendations listed in the study include the adoption of a Historic Preservation Ordinance, applying for Certified Local Government Status, and producing and adopting Design Guidelines. The long-term recommendations include the promotion of tax incentive/exemption programs, and working in conjuction with small communities with topics such as: a website, heritage tourism, a marker and plaque program, scenic roads, and informational materials. |
