Our GIS data is available to the public as ESRI Shapefiles, WMS and WFS formats.
To download the Shapefile as a ZIP file, click the corresponding link below each layer description.
To access the WFS format in ArcGIS, simply click the ESRI layer file link and the layer should open automatically. In order for the layer to open properly, you must have ArcGIS 10 with the Interoperability extension installed.

Growth Management GIS Data
Bike Lanes
Roadways having bikelanes or shoulders accomodating to bicycle traffic, or designated for improvements including adding bikelanes. Corresponds with the existing and future bikelanes in the map "Bike/Pedestrian Existing & Future Network" which is part of the Transportation Mobility Element in the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan.
Building Inspection Zones
Inspection zones used by the county building inspectors to distribute inspection assignments.
Capital Improvements Element
Roadways designated for having improvements by the Capital Improvements Element in the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan. Corresponds to the roadways in the adopted map "Urban Cluster Transportation Mobility Districts Capital Improvements Element."
Certificates of Occupancy
Certificates of Occupancy(COs) issued by the Alachua County Department of Growth Management. Dataset covers 1994-present.
Code Enforcement Zones
Zones designated by Alachua County Code Enforcement officers, to evenly distribute travel distances and workload between code enforcement staff. Currently there are 4 zones, evenly dividing the county into 4 quadrants; NE, NW, SE, SW. The enforcement zone where a physical address resides can be inferred from the NE, NW, NE, or SW prefix portion of the address.

Code violations recorded by the Alachua County Department of Growth Management, Alachua County, Florida, from 1994 to present.

Properties with existing mines which are grandfathered into the Land Development regulations, permitted to have mining operations without a Special Use Permit.
Multi Use Paths
Existing and proposed multi-use paths of Alachua County, Florida. Multi-use paths are paved paths or sidewalks that are typically 8 ft or greater in width and accomodate both pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Corresponds with the existing and future multi-use paths displayed on the adopted map "Bike/Pedestrian Existing & Future Network" which is part of the Transportation Mobility Element in the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan.
Municipalities
Municipal jurisdiction according to tax parcels. Additional editing has been done to include utility parcels inside of municipalities and the closure of large gaps from road and utility right of ways.

Parks and Gardens ranging from neighborhood recreational parks to state agency nature parks.
Paynes Prairie West
Vegetative Communities within the Paynes Prairie West Strategic Ecosystem.
Rapid Transit Corridors

Transportation Mobility Districts
The Alachua County Transportation Impact Fee Ordinance (Ordinance 06-30) can be referenced underneath Chapter 364 of the Alachua County Code of Ordinances. District boundaries are established by Section 364.09. The purpose of the boundaries is established in Section 364.08(d) which states "All funds collected shall be properly identified by transportation impact fee district and promptly transferred for deposit in the appropriate transportation impact fee trust fund to be held in separate accounts as determined in section 364.10 and used solely for the purposes specified in this chapter."
Urban Reserves
Urban Reserve areas are designated pursuant to the Alachua County Boundary Adjustment Act, a special act of the Florida legislature which governs annexation in Alachua County (Ch.225 of Alachua County Code). The Reserve Areas are the exclusive areas within which the corresponding municipality may annex property. Extra-Territorial Reserve areas have been designated for some municipalities as areas to be considered for future expansion of those municipalities' Reserve Areas.
Vegetative Buffer Overlay District
Buffered areas within 660 ft of Preservation Lands.

Zoning Applications
Zoning Applications submitted to Alachua County Department of Growth Management. Zoning Applications include applications for Zoning Changes ("ZOM"), for Special Use ("ZOS"), for Temporary Use ("ZOT"), for Special Exception ("ZOX"), for Non-Conforming Use ("ZON"), for Revocation ("ZOR") and for Comprehensive Plan Amendments ("CPA").
